so i read the sticky and see PIONEER is a reputable brand... what models would you suggest for regular R/W purposes, single-layer or dual-layer? thanks!
Wow, someone who reads stickies. I'm glad it could be of use to you I'd reccomend the 111D. It is a great all round drive but will not bookype single layer +r discs to dvd-rom without patched firmware (we can come to that if you decide to buy the drive or if not, just ask me anyway). The 112D is the latest drive, and I have heard good things about that too. The same applied RE bokotyping to dvd-rom though for single layer discs.
so yeah I need a new burner and while i thought Pioneer was the best bet, i thinki may be unsure. any more advice on choosing a single or dual layer DVD writer? thanks!
final help hxxp://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8197863&st=pioneer&type=product&id=1165609038260 best buy has DVR-1810B5PK of pioneer which looks like the 'commercial' version of the DVR112 no? i see the 112 on newegg and what not.. just curious what the difference is with the two? thanks! (only trying to use my best buy gift cards, but wont if this 1810 drive is bad news)
I'm really not sure. The specs seem to match up though. Zebadee should be able to clarify that However, Pioneer drives are (for the most part) decent regardless.
Hi ;-) The difference between the 111 & 112 is h/w (only a couple of components changed). This diference is slight & f/w updates may well compensate. AFAIK this 1810 is indeed a 112 series drive. So no problems (in terms of being inferior etc) here. Enjoy.
