IMO ... If the source cannot be read, your out of luck.

If you've got XCopy Platinum, have you tried XRescue?
    _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Dell 8250, Pentium 4 2.80GHz
    1.5 GB RDRAM, 200GB HD
    TDK 840G, Sony DDU-1612 DVD-ROM
    XP Pro, ATI All-In-Wonder 9000 Pro[/small]

If you have a burned movie on DVD-R that has the encryption protection already broken, then you can make a disc to disc copy. I use Easy CD Creator platinum or Alcohol %120 to do a disc to disc. If you don't ahve either of those you could use DVD Shrink to rip the DVD to your hard drive and then just burn the ISO using the program you have to burn DVD's.

The disc to disc copy should work even though the DVD is a DVD+R. I have done a d2d copy from a DVD+R to a DVD-R with Alcohol %120 and had no problems doing it.

You should be able to make a copy of a copy useing nero 6 as long as the encryption protection has already been broken.

IMO ... the most important thing is, can your source be read and ripped? If it can you should have no problmes. So use good quality media to start :)
