ok i have a mpg fil2 2.4GB movie, should i run it though TMPGEnc and make a WAV and a M2V file first, and then make vob, ifo, files in TMPGEnc DVD AUTHOR. or should i skip the TMPGENC one and not make a wav and m2v file and directly go from MPG to VOB, ifo files??

If the .mpg file is DVD compliant MPEG-2 you should just be able to use that file in TMPGEnc DVD Author. If there is a problem it will report that it is not encoded correctly. Then it would have to be encoded in TMPGEnc.
TMPGEnc DVD Author can use a single file that contains both audio and video or separate audio and video files.
