Have been using LP Recorder 5.0 for transferring old 60's & 70's records, but the crackle is still fairly evident. This version came from a magazine CD,so am not sure if they left out some of the filters. After converting them to wav. is there any freeware programs I could use to remove some of this noise without sacrificing the original recordings too much?

Audacity has a lot of different filters. I've never used them so you might have to play around with it a little bit to get all figured out. But it's free & that can't be bad!!

If you can get hold of Cool Edit Pro 2000 then it has good filters to get rid of crackle and pop. I have also used Sound Forge and Diamond Cut ART as well, but always come back to Cool Edit.
