Okay so im a little new to the homebrew scene and was wondering what carts would be the best to play NDS and GBA roms on an old (phat) DS. And also where would the best place to buy from?
I'd go for the cyclods, thats the flash cart I got. $57 shipped from realhotstuff.com Arrived 2 days after I ordered, very fast. Its a bit more expensive than the r4 and the m3, but I've heard that it is a bit superior. I think the main difference is that it can handle higher mem micro sds, like up to 32gb if you can afford it. Besides I couldn't find a m3 or r4 anywhere on the net in stock. The r4 was my first choice, but its sold out everywhere. For gba games, I've heard the ez flash v is the best, I wouldn't know, but thats just what I've heard. If you order from realhotstuff.com, make sure you type in save5 for the coupon, you only get 5%, but hey its something. If it isn't save5 than just google it, but I think it is. For a micro sd, amazon.com has a kingston 2gb on sale for 12 bucks, free shipping. Too bad I already paid 14 bucks for mine.
Buy a M3 Real DS. They're very good. They can use microSDHC cards and is probably one of the simplest carts to use with lots of functionality. The M3 Real DS also has the ability to go up to 32GB, but the highest available size microSDHC card I've seen is 8GB. Right now, the only place that I know of selling them is echostore.com and for $42. I remember there being a 10% off coupon code too, but you'll have to search the internet for it as I've forgotten it. Since you have an old DS, you can't use the M3s GBA cart. You'll have to buy the EZ 3-in-1 gba cart. They sell those on realhotstuff.com for $24. As for microSD/HC cards, I would suggest getting them from newegg.com as a 4GB microSDHC card is $20. They're very reliable. I've placed over ten orders with them and they have very quick shipping.
Yeah I agree on the m3. I would have gotten that one, or the r4 if I could find one. But I just couldn't. If you can wait and find one I say get a m3 or r4, but my curiosity about homebrew and the ds in general have really peaked recently and I couldn't wait. Bad news is that finals week at my university is next week so this is a bad time for my curiosity to be peaked. But hey, at least I'll have my cyclods and ds for the spring break trip. I guess we've(my friends and I) have ageed on LA, which I live very close to, but since my friends dorm and some are from japan, they haven't been there. And I'm not driving for sure( no f*ckin way since gas went up over 20% here in cali), I can DS it up in little tokyo during spring break.
