I've got a v1.0 xbox that boots to the "your xbox requires service" screen with no error code. I installed a duox2gs mod with the evox m8plus bios and it boots to the mod bios fine. I could not access the retail HD that came with it. I booted slayers 2.7 disk and it shows that all partitions are empty, but when I FTP to the HD I can see data on the C partition. I figured it may be a HD problem so I installed a new HD using Chunkheads tutorial on this forum with xboxhdm_v1.9. After installing the new HD I could then see the data on the partitions when I boot slayers 2.7. I backed up my eeprom on this new drive and then locked it through slayers. Now I can boot to the mod chip bios, play games, and make saves to the HD. When I boot using the eject button to load the retail MS bios I still get the "your xbox requires service" screen with no error code. What should I test next?

Most likely the original BIOS is corrupt. When you boot to the retail dash, the chip (with onboard BIOS) is turned off, therefore relying on the original BIOS which is damaged!

    Be happy that it works...

    :)

I should also add the v1.0 Xboxs cannot display the Error 07 code. As you have changed the HDD, I'd say this no longer a problem, however, if it hasn't been locked correctly...

I'll double-check to see if I locked the HD first. If I still have problems, I'll try and flash the TSOP. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks!

Ok, my HD was locked so it's not that. I have a v1.0 non-Sharp TSOP and I bridged the two points to make it writable. I started to flash the TSOP with slayers 2.7 disk using this option "7b10) Flash MOD or v1.0-1.5 TSOP w/ X2-4983.67 OFFICIAL". It said I had to make sure my mod chip was disconnected before flashing. Since I can't boot without the mod chip, I booted to slayer's disk with the mod chip in and then before flashing I pulled the mod chip out of the PCB pin header. I got a "could not write" error. I thought maybe I had to boot without a mod chip, so I tried to do the soft mod exploit with Splinter Cell. I loaded the save game and linux file to my HD, booted splinter cell, went to start the game and when I got to the "checkpoints" screen and pressed A, it would either do nothing and freeze or sometimes the screen would go black like it was about to load, but then it would stay black and freeze. So knowing that i can get this far and it freezes... any thoughts as to what may be the issue assuming my 2 bridge points were soldered ok?

    TSOP flashing is pointless!

It basically does what a modchip does.

Try new softmodding files, use the ones in my Software page!
