Your Samsung drive will PLAY movies, but it cannot record them. It can both record and play CD-Rs and CD-RWs.

It may be possible to convert a movie to a VCD format with a great deal of compression (which will affect video quality--it will look surprisingly good on a very small screen and disappointingly bad on a large screeen), and that VCD format can be recorded to a CD-R on your drive. Some DVD players can play VCD discs; some cannot. You will have to check your DVD player manual to find out.
