I'm using firewire and windows movie maker and Nero to place the video on my hard drive. Last summer everything was working fine, now I'm unable to download the video without the frames freezing slightly! I just have a standard computer, noting special. Should I get a video card with memory? What slows the system down so much that I get these problems?
Have you checked your hard drive capacity? and of course the better the video card better the result. Also make sure you don't have programs running in the background, I find this too can cause problems.
I have a 2.8 Ghz P4 with 1 Gb RAM and 100 Gb HD and it takes practically no-time to download via firewire and edit... Do you defrag your HD? Is it full?
i have lots of extra hard drive space and I defrag once in awhile. I think this 1.6ghz is gettin a little slow. Computer works great for everything else, i was hoping not to shell out any more $$ What program do you use for video editing? and getting the video to your hd?
Do you experience dropped frames? Try one of the freeware capture utitlities frome here: http://www.digitalvideoclub.com/downloads/freedownloads.php If you use WinDV, it will report if frames are dropped.
