The Lite-On 52x32x52 is an awesome steal $59 CAD You can also get the ASUS 522452 (same as ive got) for the same price range. Just stay away from Phillips and LG (and my personal bias, Sony too ) If you can get the Plextor 52X burners for a decent price that would be an excellent choice also. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/45121 _X_X_X_X_X_[small]ASUS A7V8X-X, AMD2500+ Samsung 1024MB, PC2700 360GB [3x120GB, 7200, 8MB] MSI Starforce, GeForce4 Ti4400 128MB Rules and Policies: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487 AFTERDAWN IRC: irc.addictz.net, #ad_buddies COME SAY HI![/small]
this burner would work great right? http://www.laptops4me.com/product_info.php/cPath/179_270/products_id/1879
Bingo! That's the one. LiteOn make a heckuva drive. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Gun Control - The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, strangled with her pantyhose is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to the police how her attacker recieved that fatal bullet wound.[/small]
That would be a good drive indeed. I think the MSI 52x32x52 is just a shy second or two faster though. Good brands to consider: ASUS, TDK, Liteon, Plextor, MSI, Sony (although you didnt hear me say that -- i personally hate sony hehe)
Nice guess pardner but the Litey& Asus drives are having major troubles backing up Safedisc 3.15 (Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time). There is confirmation that the Plextore Premium (52\32\52x) backed the game up with success. So, what is the best "2 sheep burner" at present? CD Burners Plextor Premium (52\32\52x} DVD Burners Plextor PX-708A These drives writes "VariRec", specifically designed for backing up SecuROM cd protection. No other burner on the market uses this technology that I'm aware of. Shoey My Litey can't backup Safedisc 3.15 Many LiteOn's are having difficulty backing up SecuROM 4.85 (Max Payne 2: The Fall Of Max Payne) but I managed to get a working backup using "old school" BlindWrite Suite 4.25 _ _ _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Afterdawn forum rules http://www.afterdawn.com/general/legal.cfm Mobo: MSI KT4VL-6712 CPU: AthlonXP Barton 2500+ Ram: 512 SD-DDR (PC-2700) nVidia GeForce FX5600(256MB DDR) Maxtor ATA\133 80 gig hd DVD-ROM: LiteOn LTD 165H DVDRW: LiteOn LDW-411S[/small]
Depends on the user and if they backup pc\audio protection on a routine basis. Also, MSI& TDK are'nt "2 sheep burners" and later Sony models are listed as "2 sheepers" and damn good burners. You ask me what is the "best" 2 sheep burner (at present) and it is the Plextor Premium (52\32\52x). Keep in mind that Macrovision's Safedisc and Sony DAC are continually updating their pc protections (Safedisc& SecuROM) and this has always been an issue of a "cat& mouse" game. One day your burner backs up the protection, the next day it doesn't. The Plex Premium is "affordable"..Before Safedisc 3.15 I would have endorsed the Litey 52x cd burner I recommend the following brand name burners in this order for backing up pc\audio protection.
