Hi everyone, i am using Protowall as a IP Blocker, when i load a .p2p file (the blocked ranges) i get either, 1312189668 known IPs and 25919 ranges or 2928014348 known IPs and 20972 ranges. I assume that the higher number of known IPs will block more things but, that is just a guess.

My question, is it better to have the Ranges be higher (with the lower known IPs) or have higher known IPs and and lower Ranges?

It depends on the ranges and if they are counting every IP included in that range. A Class A IP address can have 16 million addresses in a single range. For example, 12.0.0.0-12.255.255.255 is a range assigned to AT&T Worldnet. That single range has over 16,000,000 individual IPs.
