well ive jsut recently began having this problem with my computer. The problem is that sometimes (not too often) my screen completely freezes, and i wait for 45 seconds, then the screen turns off, then turns on and everything is fine. Even if im burning a cd/dvd or runnign a game or anything like that, the games cd/dvd seem to have continued, while my screen just didnt see it. Can anyone tell me what could be causing this? and if i format will it fix it?

maybe a trojan or a virus? or your monitor is loosely connected to your video card.

Have you checked your settings to make sure that your monitor isn't trying to go into hibernation mode?

Also check to see if it could be a Screen Saver problem.

Could be a virus or static build up. Switch off the mains power but leave the plug in for earthing purposes, disconect all the plug in connections to the PC, while touching the frame or any metal case of the PC touch a metal window frame or radiator to discharge any static. Reconnect all the cables securely and boot up, then run your virus checker, http://www.Grisoft.com AVG free version is good.
