Whats the average lifespan of a DVD burner?

    I use my DVD burner a lot to burn DVDs and CDs, and i have done this for about 3 years, and it still works great. I am using a Gateway Laptop's DVD burner. How long do you think it will last before i will need a new one/ an external one?

    depending on the burner, I give most about 300 burns, then they start getting glitchy. But 3 years thats pretty good.
