best--you mean most expensive. If that's the case I can get you some maxells for $3 each. or do you mean media that works without too many coasters and is as cheap as you can get. Most of the name brand media is fine but it is hard to find at cheaper prices. I get riteks in spindles for about 1.20-1.30 per (us) that I do searches for at froogle.google.com. You will find much support for riteks as well as any other media. Check out the dvd-r media forum here on afterdawn.
Verbatim spindles seem to be the best for it's price. They aren't expensive and are compatible with all 5 DVD players I have tried them on.
