whats the best way to avi to dvd i have done it with nero but it always reduces the quality and i got errors mid way thru the movie it would pause and play for 5 sec then pause again i tried winavi but after chapter 2 it says unreadable disc the avi file is fine but i want to know what is the best way to burn avi(s) files to dvd without erroes and reducing the quality
Well there will allways be some Quality loss going from AVI to Mpeg-2/DVD because all Compression will lower the Quality to some degree ,How much quality you Loose depends on the Quality and Resolution of your AVI file and the Quality of the Encoder you are useing to Convert the AVI to Mpeg-2/DVD..... The Best Methods entail you useing a good Quality Standalone Mpeg encoder like "Tmpgenc Pluss" or the "MainConcept Encoder" to convert the AVI file to a DVD Compliant Mpeg-2 File and then after you have encoded the AVI file to Mpeg-2 you would use a DVD authoring Program Like "DVD Lab" or "Tmpgenc DVD Author" to add your menu"s and Chapters and to Burn the DVD.... Also the Problems you are Haveing with the DVD Pauseing and Playing sounds Like you are useing Crappy Blank DVD"s and/Or you are Burning these DVD"s at too high of a Speed...The Lower your Burn Speed the Less Chance of Burn errors on the Disk and I think it is Burn errors that is Causeing the Stopping and Starting of your DVD movies.... ok i'll try slowing down next time i just tried to convert it to mpeg using tmpenc plus but it gave me an error (could not create the file C:\....)
Well then Try the "MainConcept Encoder" as it is about 5 times as Fast as Tmpgenc but Produces just as good Quality but it doesn"t have as many Features as Tmpgenc but it is still a very Good encoder...... You shouldn"t use Nero to convert your AVI"s to DVD because Nero is well known for useing one of the Worst quality Mpeg encoders there is but it is Just fine for Burning DVD folders and Images just not for encodeing..... i never used mainconcept before so is the output size supposed to be this big it says 3 gigs for one avi and i have two parts to put on the dvd
yes it can be,i regulary exceed the "dvd-5" limit i use main concepts encoder all the time,(its fast,and good quality),make sure you select "dvd",and the correct region then add both files to TMPGenc dvd author. the resulting ts folder may be too big,so it will need shrinking i use clonedvd2 for that
Hi, I have used TMPGEnc Plus and then MainConcept and never looked back after using MC, but the settings are more difficult, to me. Your 3 Gig file may be okay, depending on the size of the 2nd file. File size can be adjusted by going to Details > Advanced in MC and adjusting the average bitrate setting on the Video Setting page. Use a bitrate calculator like the one from VideoHelp and just enter both file sizes in to get your average bitrate. For now. take 5% off that for menues,etc; you can zero in on this later. As Minion stated, there is always going to be some quality loss; just make sure to enable 2 pass VBR. The encoding time is longer but increases quality.
