I have a three year old xbox, and have been having difficulties with it. It's kept in a cabinet and I make sure to leave the cabinet open while it's on and turn it off before closing the cabinet. Sorry to say, one of the kids wasn't so careful. I came home one day and opened the cabinet - the xbox was on, the cabinet and the xbox case was hotter than hell, and when I turned on the TV, the game that was running was frozen. I powered off the xbox and let it cool down. Now, whenever playing a game, I get the "dirty or damaged disk" message or the game freezes after about 45 minutes to an hour. What happened, do you think? Is it toast, or fixable? I want to get it modded, but I don't want to waste money on modding a fried xbox. Thanks in advance for your help. Nigel
It's probably just filled with dust and crap! OPen and clean it out with compressed air, getting into the heatsinks and it also couldn't hurt to open the DVD drive and give that a blow too!
