i'm totally new to the cd backup having being backing up dvds for 3 years now i have decided to have a go at backing up my cd collection and i was wondering what file format the files from an audio cd come in when ripped and what are the best tools to use to rip, convert and burn with. I was also wondering if anyone could tell me what the differnet types of burnable cds are for such as cd (iso), bootbale cd etc.

    thanks

    hi there !
the format from music shop is "wave" 16 bit 48 khz stereo.
downloads from internet are generally mp3 128kps
or compressed(lossy). lots of info under "search"
i use Nero 6.3 to encode and burn to cd-r to play on any player in the standard "wave" format.
    regards
