HD-DVD: Players http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/7191.cfm Movies http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/7193.cfm Blu-Ray: Players http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/7195.cfm (PS3) http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/7143.cfm Movies http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,124194,tfg,tfg,00.asp I love facts because I hate guessing. Actually hd-dvd player is coming out sooner (march) than bluray player (april). Bluray format isn't even ready yet, so I doubt that it will come even in april. They're still coding bluray java.
Whenever it is i doubt i will be buying them, most will wait for the consoles to arrive which will be a while since xbox has been takin back into review and rumors say that ps3 could possible come out as late as 2007
True but waiting a while is good too. They'll be rushing to drop prices to get more sales. And if at that time suddenly lots of people buy and it's good for Sony and MS. And XBox is supporting HD-DVD since Microsoft supports HD-DVD and obviously PS3 supports Bluray since Sony helped make it.
well this is somewhat of a "subtopic" to this fourm but i dont know where else to post it. i am planing to buy this tv http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sams...32971/catOid/-12867/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do would this be a wise choice...i ask this because i dont want to buy a hdtv and then have these two new formats (HD DVD and Blueray) come out and the brand new hdtv i bought not be optmized for handeling this kind of video format Thanks
Well that looks ok, but it isn't even widescreen. And all hdtv resolutions are widescreen. I suggest that you buy a tv which has a native resolution of 1080i, since hd-dvd and bluray are going to be on that resolution. 1080p tv would be the best way to go, but they're quite expensive.
im not realy concerned about the widescreen situation at this point in time (but i do thank you for the info). what i would like to know is if this tv.... http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sams...32971/catOid/-12867/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do would be a good choice regaurding the 2 new digital video formats that will be coming out soon because i dont want to go spend 600 dollars on a tv then have it become obsolete in a month or two
But... That is exactly what arcanix is saying. For your television to be future proof it must at least be widescreen since the "Widscreen" aspect ratio is where the industy is going. All movies are originaly shot in widescreen and all HDTV content is in widescreen (but not all DTV formats)! You would be better off buying the 30" Widescreen Slim-fit model (by the same company). Well all high definition broadcasts must be widescreen, since hd-standard picture ratio is always 16:9.
All movies and most series are in widescreen. But anyway, I was talking about HD broadcasts, so it doesn't what they broadcast today. And new consoles are in HD, so it would be a wise choice to get a widescreen hdtv.
Yes. The 360 and PS3 are 16:9. Analog tv broadcast and displays are all 4:3 ratio. Digital tv broadcast and displays can be either 4:3 or 16:9. All HDTV broadcast are 16:9 ratio.
