I have an R4 and don't have any issues with it so far but I need 3 more cards now so the members of my family aren't fighting over the same one!

Looking for a cycloDS or something comparable...Acekard-2i ?

    whats a good reliable website?

any other site to look at? thanks for any help or any other suggestion other than the cyclods or acekard. (pretty new to this)

    thanks!

I generally use dealextreme. Their shipping is slow but the prices are the best.

HOLY COW! thats some expensive shipping. Wonder why its so much? I just ordered a huge R/C airplane from Canada to the U.S. and shipping was only $17 and it comes in a huge box LOL.

You might try consolesource.com they have $4.95 flatrate shipping to U.S. and Canada.

There is also modchipcentral.com but I dont remember ever using them personally but I think there ok.

ok.. I will check those websites out also. My computer is a$$ slow today though. so frustrating!

I do have one other 'easier' option but is it too risky?

The place where we bought the R4 (clone obviously) has a few more in stock for $32CDN. its a local electronics store. No problems at all so far. Should I just buy the rest of them? Or stop playing russian roullette with our DS's and go for a Cyclo?

I read there are 'good' cloned R4's and 'bad' ones.

    UGH!

I'd recommend looking on craigslist. I ordered a brand new R4 from a guy on there, and he delivered it right to my front door free of charge.

The problem with Craigslist is that you may have trouble if you don't get exactly what you want, or the offer is misleading. Not to say that will happen, but if you want a trusted source I'd say go with Realhotstuff.com. Really quick, great service.

I would never recommend a R4 to anybody.

Please buy something other than a R4! But its entirely up to you.

Well, right now I have the CycloDS Evolution + Kingston 2 GB microSD Bundle X qty 3 in my shopping cart.

Just wondering what the EZV 3 in 1 Expansion Pack is for an extra 21.50?

Also, is there any difference between the white or black one?

I want to place my order sometime tonight.

    thanks for the help :)

The color is just that--a preference. The EZ 3 in 1 supports rumble and GBA game support (meaning you can play GBA ROMS, but only with this or a similar slot-2 card).

I just ordered myself a CycloDS today, along with the EZ 3 in 1 so I could dump my own NDS games and use them all with the Cyclo. Just a matter of preference again, you don't need it, but it is nice =)

Why wouldn't you recommend the R4? I've had mine for over a year and I've never had a problem with it. I've never had to patch games unlike many other cards, and I think there was only one game in the past year that didn't work for me, and it was nothing special anyway. Tropix or something I think.

Don't listen to him. I understand there are R4 clones out there, but I think the real ones are the best ones money can buy.

I understand the Clone R4 'could' brick your DS. How probable it is, I have no idea. 1% of them? 10% of them are harmful??

Are people making a mountain out of a mole hill? Dunno? Is this a rarity? Difficult to find stats and information on the R4 issue.

If your R4 hasn't caused you problems yet, is it safe to assume it won't later on?

My 5yr old is using a R4 and we'll take the chance that it will continue to be fine.

Well of course you would want real one over a cheaper made clone LOL. I would not want a clone of any card for the most part really.

I owned some R4's so I have the right to my own opinion dont I? It can be a HUGE hassle to find the right firmware for a R4 since there are about 14 (sarcastically exaggerated) different clones out right now each one using a different firmware. I had 3 R4's 2 took one firmware one took another Im not worried about them breaking a DS. after the first 2 R4 died I sold the last one, And switched to a really cheap DSTT $7 including shipping LOL. Yea there cheap all the ones I got are real and not clones and hold up to kids using them. The ONLY reason I would recommend a DSTT to someone is because of the price. When it dies your only out $7.

For myself I use a Cyclods. The DSTT's are for the kids and nephews and none have quit yet (knock on wood) M3 is another great card.

Oh and the 2 R4's that quit on me were not clones they were the real ones according to what I looked up. The clone still works as far as I know LOL.

I just wanted to add that I ordered from RHS last night. I received an email today from Fed-Ex saying my order is estimated to be at my house by 5pm tomorrow.

Wow! So far I'm very happy with Real Hot Stuff. :)
