I have short listed 2 boxes

    Amiko Alien 2

    VU+ solo2

I read lots of good things about most

    The VU being more developed

    But which is faster

    which has a better picture

Is anyone lucky enough to own both?

    Thanks

    vu+ solo2.... no question.
be sure to get a genuine box, not clone.

solo2 has potential for twin tuner so is equivalent to duo but cheaper. amiko is built on old hardware and has little to no support

the solo2 is a twin tuner and a bit more expensive than the duo.
the duo is a lot older and slower than the solo2 but there is a new duo coming out this year, and i expect it will be more expensive than the solo2.

Not being funny here guys, i own a dm800hd clone and have added a hdd apart from it not being a dual tuner, whats the difference? obviously the clones are made from cheap parts and mine has not set on fire yet after 2 year. i can install plug ins and that and i am not stuck with one image like the blade. this is a serious question and not extracting the urine.

surely the clone lacks the speed to achieve a sky type experience.

i had the dm800hd clone, i gave it to my brother when i bought a vu+uno.
the dm was working fine and still is to this day (about 4 yrs old now)

now just imagine that same story but replace dm800hd with fiat punto and vu+uno with a mercedes.
besides the increase in performance there are the added refinements and support by the vix team (should you use that image) is second to none.
a few weeks ago they brought out a plugin that does BBCiplayer, ITVplayer, 4OD, Threeplayer, RTEplayer and the OUG player,
S*Y are launching 4OD today and no idea when they will do them all.

yes the dm800hd gets you from A to B but the vu+ range get you there faster and in more comfort. :)

have the 'old duo' myself for many years. fantastic box. natural progression from dm800 at the time. having said that the dm800 was and is a great box once they sorted issues with flickering on hd channels with the rev l3 tuner. could i revert to the dm800. not really. as popeye says the vix image is simply far better than all other images i've used and they continue to integrate new plugins that make it even better. having said that for the price of a dm800 clone you will not get a better box
