The qustion is pretty simple.. which of these should i get.. the price isnt really that important.. dunno from reviws i read the plextor is the best/fastest one (12x speed)... but i wouldnt mind the dual layer, except its only 2.4x speed which would be incredibly slow :( if there is a different burner that is better plz tell me, this is what i have rea/heard is good..ya and i already ahe software so oem/retail whatevr isnt important

Out of the 3 you have listed, I would go with the Plextor. Most dual layer burners at present time burn at 2.4x. When you price the blank media you won't be using that much anyway.($15. to $18. each).

I would wait for the Pioneer 108 as it is 16x and 4x dual layer, it should be out middle of August I have heard.

Also with the right firmware Piodata 8x discs write at 12x. Sony M Code 08D1, Sony M Code D11 8x will write at 16x. TY M Code YUDEN000T02 8x will write at 16x and last but not least Mitsubushi M Code MCC 003 8x will also write at 16x.

I would wait as this burner will be the dogs b*ll*cks!

Sorry for people who can read Japanese here is the link:

I have the nec.... i wouldnt wait for 16x drive as the media just isnt out there... i update my firmware using herries firmware and i burn 8x on 4x disks... so its not a problem, 8x is plenty for me...

well the new pioneer DVR-108 is out, it does 4x doul layer and 16x, but i read that it's 16x is the same speed as 12x beacause it uses clz instead of cav or someting like that.. i think im gonna wait for the nec 3500 which should be out soon.. it does 4x doul layer and 16x, but the actual 16x speed

I wouldn't get your hopes up too high for getting good results burning at 16X :)

I agree..... the thing is who needs to burn at 16x... 8x will get the job done in 8-9 min. i wouldnt spend double the money to save 4 min on each burn... plus you do know its better to burn slower to a certiant point. When 52x cd burning came around so did more errors. I only burned 10 good disks at 52x and the rest crapped out on a good liteon drive.

Well guys it really depends on what you do for a living!!! If some of us are into copying films and PS2 and Xbox etc you would want it to burn quicker.

I have a Acard Duplicator with 7 writers!!! So the
quicker I burn the more money I make!!!

At the moment the duplicator copies at around 9mins so if I can get it to 4/5mins look what it would do for my production.

Also if my sources are right I will be buying Piodata 8x and copying at 12x which for cost purposes will help in the long run. The lower the cost the more profit people make.

BAD idea all over... for one burning and selling dvds is ILLEGAL, for two if you burn a media faster then its rated sooner or later (most likely sooner) it will fail if not right off the bat. In the sense you still do this even though its illegal as soon as some people get some bad copys off of you they will stop buying. Now ill just use this very unlikely situation for an example. Say i want a backup of a dvd i own, and i come to you and you want to make it for me for a fee. We agree that 5 dollars is fair, you make the disk like you proposed in your post and it fails on me.... i wouldnt buy from you again, even if it was a dollar a movie becasue i cant watch the dvd.

I have seen the CD rewriter from the 2X to the very latest 52X. And believe me, people do want the improve in speed. I do not think quicker means lose of quality. It all part of the improvement in the world of optical storage.

6 months ago, 4.7G is enough for me to store my digital photos and movies. Now I cannot wait for the dual layer for all the movies I took with my Sony DVD-200 camcorder.

SCS+, Sounds like you are into Piracy for money. Everything this forum is against. I would think twice about your projects and posts. Read the forum rules.

Your telling me people dont do backups??? for friends??? I don't think so!!! My friends come to me for backups, because they don't know how to. Thats all I'm saying, yeah I charge time and labour, and for the disk so what is wrong with that???

I backup all my originals on to cd or dvd so I can play in my car. All backups i use are for myself, I have had cd's damaged in a car accident and they were all originals and I couldn't claim them back from my insurance. So from that day on I have always backed up originals even for friends for a small fee.

I'm sorry if I offended people I really didn't mean to. It's the way I type things ;)

as long as you dont copy things for people who dont own the software thats fine... from your original post it seemd as though you went and copyed things for people that they didnt own.

You're not making copies of the same movie for 7 friends at a time. Plus you already stated that you're doing it for a living (and apparently making enough money to pay for 6 additional burners). Nobody has that many friends!

Hi Vurbal, Thats the same way I read the post. I'm sure we all make an extra copy at times for a friend or family member. It sure doesn't take 7 burners running at 10 minutes per copy to do those few extra copies. I was just trying to advise in a friendly manner what the post was stating and how it looked against the rules. I hope the advise was taken. It seems to have been.

I hope so to. It's always dissapointing when people who could otherwise be good contributors to the forum just aren't willing to follow the ruls.

I never have thought of it that way.... true now it does sound shady... ten dvd burners burning 7 copys every 4-9 min.. and if he wants to save time that bad.... he must have a ton of friends or is breaking the law.

Just some advice there buddy if in fact this is what your doing, someone will get mad at you and turn you in, if they catch you or if they track down copys you made for other people they and or you will be severly fined. Take my advice is this is your living... go to college and make a better more legal one.

Whatever guys!!! Man I have been doing this copying for friends for ages even if you look at sites like:

    http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/Hardware_Section__.html

    http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/cat.php?search=DVD+Duplicator&session=856c966c2abb67455987f40f4835d559

they are selling to the public, so what are they doing wrong???

I did state that some people do it for a living. I didnt state I did it for a living.

"I have a Acard Duplicator with 7 writers!!! So the
quicker I burn the more money I make!!!" from my friends and family. Thats what I tried to imply (man, you guys are killing me) lol.

Why do I need a dup. with seven writers??? I produce cd's for a certain lady dj in the midlands in UK where she produces discs to distribute in clubs also done a few for other dj's in other clubs. Does that answer your questions about piracy???
