Time to get a new DVD burner, my choice are:

    - BenQ DQ60
    - LiteOn SHW-160P6S
    - NEC ND-3550A
    - Sony DRU-810A
    - Pioneer DVR-110

Those are similar price and spec. So which one you guy recomment ??

    Thanks.

    None of the above.

    However, I recommend BenQ DW1650 and DW1655.

I love BenQ but NOT the BenQ DQ60.

Stay with a BenQ1650 or BenQ1655 if BenQ is the way to go.

    Hi there,

I just purchased a NEC ND-3550A and happy with it !

There's a whole bunch of good drives, it's a matter of choosing the one you want, for the features it has.

Some will support DVD-RAM, some won't
Some will support Booktyping, some won't
Some will support PI/PO Scanning, some won't

    My 2 cents...

Adriana Lima is definitely my top choice of models per aabbccdd's sig. <G>

BenQ1655, 1650, or 1640 if you could find one would be my first choice of burners. My BenQ1640 has provided me with consistent quality scores in the 99-100’s using TY media.

Usually an OEM drive comes with no box, no software. I have an OEM Toshia SD-R5372 that came from Tiger Direct that came that way, was just in a plastic bag. They are normally cheaper than boxed. Its is waht the computer mfgs install.

I have looked at all retail store in my area Houston,Tx. and cannot find a BenQ1650 or BenQ1655 were in the wide world do you find these beasts? at a reasonable price? I am using a Sony 530a and I love it! but I am building a new PC and saw the feedback on these are pretty good
    Thanks
    Mr. Bill

    Found this also:
The early drives are usually Benq 1625's, later ones are 1655 drives, but not all of them. Some have also been LiteOns and HP, so check the box before you leave or have them open it for you. The ones that have the 8x dl red circle on the box have a very good chance of being a 1655, mine was, most are.

You should consider the Lite-On SHM-165H6S, as well.

That is where I got mine. The $59. one comes with Q-Suite software and Nero OEM. The $49. is the burner only. You will have to download the Q-suite fro BenQ. I say for $10. diff, get the software
