OK so I am planning on buying a ds, soon. And the first purchase I'll make is for a homebrew card. I've seen the m3 and r4 and those seem like the best options, but I just wanted to hear whhat anyone has to say about which one I should get based on what I want/need. - play ds games, obviously - play video - play homebrew games - use the ds web vrowser, not sure what this is how it works(is it just a ds game?) - I really dont need anything special, just the basics. The problem is that I cant seem to find a r4 anywhere on the net, but the m3 sinply and real is available and fairly affordable. But whats the difference between the simpy and real? from all of the other posts on here all i know is that is has more features, but what, does it have pda capabilities (notes, calendar, ect...) or what? It doesn't seem to be much more expensive than the simply so is it worth it? Also would you recommend any other cards, that may be cheaper or better? Sorry if this has been answered in the multitude of posts on here, but I am still confused, being new to this stuff.
I recommend the R4. Never seen the M3 before but R4 is totally cool. For R4 you also need an SD card. *Ignore my signature, I just like to talk about DS sometimes*
In order to use the official DS Web Browser you need a ram pack, such as what is included in the EZ-V 3-in-1 expansion pack, or one of the M3 DS Real package deals. Personally, the M3 DS Real plays DS games flawlessly and I love the cheat function. Homebrew is, perhaps 80% compatible, but some games, mostly the fully 2D ones I think, don't load. I heard there was a way around this but I haven't gotten it to work. Also, from personal experience I recommend you do NOT get the GBA Expansion pack or ram pack, or even the rumble pack. The GBA expansion pack I got never worked properly even after I got it to just play the games. The Rumble pack quite literally scared me the first time I turned it on. It's that loud. If you have the official rumble pack, I recommend that a hundred times over. However, the EZ-V 3-in-1 has a ram, rumble, and gba functionality, and the rumble can be adjusted. They also come in both GBA size and lite sized ones, and it would probably work better than the individual m3 ds real cartridges do, so I'd save 40 bucks and just buy the m3 ds real, then get the EZ-V for gba functionality as well as ram so that the ds browser works. Gba Temp has reviewed I think most of the slot-1 cards, so you should check those out for their rating. Personally, the M3 Real does pretty much everything I want it to do, and I hope my GBA issues are isolated.
