I'm buying a iPhone 3GS tomorrow but the seller says it's locked. Is unlock and jailbreak the same thing? If not, how can I get it to work with my Tmobile sim card? Also, the sim card slot for this iPhone is smaller than the sim card from my phone. Do I need to cut down my card?

    Thanks in advance. 8/20/11@4:15EST

Well if you were going to do a software unlock, you would first need to jailbreak it, but this only works with older basebands. You have three options: Use the phone with the carrier you're buying it from (I'm guessing AT&T since they're currently free), Ask AT&T if they are willing to unlock it for you (I think this costs money, and I am not sure if you can actually do it, but you can here on most networks for £15), or you can invest in a Gevey sim, which unlocks all phones but is made in China, and so is a bit dodge..
