Hi I have a Sony DVD-ROM (DDU1613) drive and was unsure whether or not it will support the higher sound quality DVD-Audio discs (I have an Audigy 2 ZS card with the latest surround speakers, so I quite keen to test it out!). Does anyone know if my DVD-ROM drive will support DVD-A discs? Thanks Matt
That's great - I'd heard many conflicting reports about different drives supporting different formats, so it's good to know I can go ahead with DVD-A! Thanks for your help!
After some searching, I have found that in the past (2002), Sony's DVD drives can read DVD-A, so no worries. Pioneer has had some problems with it, however. I also read that a newer sound card can make almost every drive play DVD-A, such as Creative's Audigy series.
well im bringing this 1 back can make me a list of which ones do and they must be DVD RECORDABLE thank u
I can play them on my Nec 2510A with Power DVD 6 Deluxe using the Onboard Sound but I ran it out to My Receiver and Bose 5.1 Setup until I got the Samsung 841D with Hi Def upconversion Sounds Great both ways
I can't really list them all but I can tell you to probably go with a Philips, as they don't have a reason to only allow the SACD. I would also try talking to the people in your computer store. If anybody would know about the drives they sell, I hope it would be them. Let us know how that works out.
