    Hey ever1,

Preety soon, I`m planning to upgrade my graphic card. And I was wondering If anybody could help me decide which would be the best choice. I'm looking for a graphic card that can handle all of todays hottest games and all of tomorrows future games!

This is what I`ve got as my computer system:

    Compaq Presario Computer System
    AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+
    2.13 GHz, 480MB of RAM

I've been recently looking into ATI, cuz I heard they have better graphic cards over Nvidia

All in all I'm looking for a graphic card that can handle :

    -splinter cell
    -Swat 4
    -Battlefield 2
    -Doom 3

and so on....the games with complex graphics....

Finally should I install more RAM into my system or should I leave my system the way it is?

And I'm looking for a 256mb graphic card...

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thnx =:)

nvidia is supposedly better than ati. get more ram upto 1gig. i presume your motherboard has agp so before you buy a new videocard make certain you know what slot your motherboard has.

Do you think my AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+ would be fast enough for all of today's games?

Also does nvidia have graphic cards that go in on agp?

yes but depends on system requirements. nvidia makes agp as well as pci/e cards but all manufacturers have switched over to making pci/e cards.

supposedly can get faster videocards with pci/e & can link 2 same cards that you can't with agp as they didn't make dual agp slots

I looked and I've got an agp slot. Is it still possible for me to get an pci/e graphic card?

nope as pci/e uses different type of slot. just like trying an agp card in the pci or vice versa, no can do. forget trying a pci/e card in pci slot as still different. can still get agp cards or replace motherboard & possibility cpu & ram to get a pci/e slot motherboard.

i got a great card for 50 bucks. and i dont agree with the ati is better that nvidia. nvidia has its advantages but not better. try the ati radeon family. goto newegg.com and type in radeon and search
