I use M3 real - fantastic. Avoid R4 and M3 simply - no software support at the moment

I also agree to go M3 DS Real. I have it, and it works great. Extremely easy to use and setup.

    Hi,

    Here's a few questions in 1 post.

I friend of mine talked to me about R4, so I went out and bought an R4 (v2) with a 2gb SDcard.

Loaded the firmware v1.18 and it's all working.

I have 1 game that didn't work, so I started to look around the net, and found R4-Advanced, Firmware v1.20

Some say this v1.20 is a fake, and R4-Advanced is the same as R4 (v2), now it that true ?

Further searching the net, I realised there's an R4-III (Firmware v3.04) which fixes the issue with the ROM I had issues with.

So my stupid question is, I guess I will need to purchase a v3 to get v3.04 firmware running, since I assume v3.04 will NOT run on an R4-v2

This is assuming R4-v2 kernels will not longer be updated ? Since R4-III is relased ?

I bought those early for XMAS, so they are hidden and can rarely take them out (Kids not around) so before I go out and spend MORE money for an R4-III I wanted other's opinion on my choices.

    Thank you !

the r4ds hasnt been updated for quite a while and on most forums its said that it probably wont be updated anymore .

the genuine r4ds latest firmware is v1.18 and some of the latest roms wont work even with v1.18 . ( any other r4ds such as r4advance , r4dsIII etc... are all fake and clones )

a list of compatible roms for the r4ds can be found here - http://wiki.scorpei.com/index.php/R4_compatibility_list

    Hi,

    Thank you for the feedback.

I will enjoy what I can with R4 (v1.18) and if I get too many games not running I will look at investing in M3 Real.

I will search and see if I can find a Canadian Distributor of the M3 Real.

    Thank you !
