They're both 64 bit and have 128 MB RAM but the 9600 is clocked quite a bit higher so I'd say the 9600 would be the one to go for
the clock on the 9600 means nothing.... actual gaming performance is what counts....think of it this way.....AMD 64 processor running at 2.4GHz will equal or better an Intel PIV running at 3.4GHz....so as you see speed isn't everything... but back to the point...the 9600 is the more capable card.....if you can afford it go for the pro or XT versions...definately worth the money and ATI were offering copies of Half Life 2 with 9600XT and 9800XTs...nmot sure if they still do though
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=14-153-014&depa=0&manufactory=BROWSE i found this one for the same price.. and it looks to be 128bit. but i was told to stay away from se's and le's when it comes to video cards, but its the same price and its 128 bit? which of the three would be best.
ha, one more to add to the list.. last one though, i promise. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-170-024&depa=0 this one interests me alot, i cant tell if its 128bit though, i think it is, if so, then it is probably the one i will be getting.
You'll also note that the AMD64 has 15 pipes and that the Pentium4 has 20/30 piipes (depending on the core) and thats what makes it so that "the clock means nothing" --- which is NOT the case here as both cards have a 4/2 pipe structure. Albatron FX5200EP http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/it/vga/specification.asp?pro_id=61 Rosewill 9600VD http://www.rosewill.com/product/vga_rw9600_128vd.aspx But all things the same, with the significant clock improvement of the Rosewill (which really, by all respects, is a 9600SE: it's got the same clocks and specs as the 9600SE), it would be a good idea to get the Rosewill
ok, between those 2 albatrons... which would be better, i saw a review of the more expensive one and it said it was 128bit. how much of an improvement would i get from that? is it worth the extra ten dollars? 64 bit http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-170-027&depa=0 128 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-170-024&depa=0
I'd pay the extra $10 for the 128 bit card. You'll get a decent performance boost over the 64 bit card
