Hi guys. I recently purchased a panasonic digital camcorder model SDR-S26K and i returned it and got a sony DCR-SX41/R because i noticed that the video quality SUCKED whenever i moved the camera around, only to find that the sony was just as bad, leading me to believe that it must be just that type of camcorder that has that problem.
My question is this, is a mini dv camcorder any better in video quality when i might move the camera around. I want the best quality because i want to be able to take good video of my newborn son and not have to worry about moving the camera or not.
If there's something even better still i'd love to hear about it.
BTW, my price range is around $300ish.

    Many thanks

If I was a betting person, I would bet that PFloyd is saying the miniDV is better.

And oddly a 20 year old £20 samsung camcorder that uses a standard vhs tape will generally outperform either when it comes to movement..

i only have a sony dcr-sr40 but at its best settings i rate it just as good if not better than my panasonic miniDV in picture quality. In ease of use I say the sony is easier to use because no damn tapes to upload to my machine in real time, just a nice digital transfer only lasting a few minutes. I used them both for live recording of my band.

The picture quality is great on my Sony, but the problem i have is when i MOVE the camera. It blurs so bad it is practically unwatchable.
