I got the 27db gain aerial from satandcable but it is way too big to put up, its about 4 foot diameter. could anyone recommend an aerial suitable from satandcable as I am about 30 miles from a transmitter, the smaller the better. I already have the downconverter and power supply. Also will the box-t pick up chsnnels with auto scan if i use a satandcable aerial and downconverter.
    thanks

Check how big the subscriber aerials are in the neighbourhood.
It makes not much sense to buy a too small one.

the aerials are for mates but they live roughly 30 miles from a transmitter. The 27db gain aerial I got is just way too big, you would need a bracket used for a 1m sat dish. Well anyway I am looking for an aerial which should pick up a signal and not too big. By the way do you know if the box-t will pick up channels with these aerial and downconverter using auto scan. Do you know what size aerial from satandcable would be roughly the same size as a chor^s aerial, and would this give the same gain.
    thanks in advance

ive just ordered 24db from satandcable-- let u know in few days how big is it
anyhow 30 miles from a transmitter? a u sure about that ? i bet it is hardly posible to get a signal with ANY dish
    i mean - bitrate of a channels 3-5 mbit/s ( 2.4 ghz-- same as wifi link )

Cheers alec76, looking forward to your verdict on the aerial. my mates nearest transmitter from ballinasloe is either kinnity or castlerea I think, maybe thats a lot less than 30 miles.

The AM-G24 should do the trick for you m8. Depends where about in Ballinasloe you are.

And yes the box-t will do a blind scan and pick up the higher frequencies used with there downconverter.

Also, have you got an aerial meter to align the aerial?

hello guys, just wondering does the mesh size (ch--us mmds) really make a difference,a friend of mine has only about 30/49 channels after full scan with a new digivox which has the latest firmware.
all the neighbours either have sly or those free to air gismos when i did a bit of research as to why nobody had ch--us mmds i was told ch--us would not attempt to install for anyone due to signal problems?as the crow flies they are approx 13 miles from the transmitter with the atlantic ocean in between i have seen only one working in this area(works very well 131 channels) the aerial is pretty big (this aerial wasnt fitted by ch--us)any info on the mesh size would be appreciated...thanks...........

in some cases yes the aerial size makes a difference.in your case you are only 13miles away, but your problem is the atlantic ocean, that could cause alot of picture breakup, so yes i would use 24 inch mesh, your signal levels must be low as well, aerial may not be lined up right either.

pudzyryan: the funny thing is the 30 channels or so are showing 80/85% quality and a level of 100% its really weird,ya i think the next step is to increase the the mesh, the nearest mesh aerial to him thats working has a pretty big mesh yet there is only about 500 yards between the 2 houses with the smaller aerial being the furthest from the transmitter, there must be a reason why ch--us wont install in this area anyway thanks and have a good xmas.........
