I woke up on Tuesday morning to find all my channels gone from my SV4. Rescanned but still had loads missing (Sports 1, all Comedy Centrals for example). I had V1.07 installed. I installed V1.12 to see if it made any difference. It did - I got all my channels back. However, I'm now left with the problem that the recording function is now useless. Of course one solution would be to buy an SV5, which probably works, given that support and future firmware updates for the SV4 have probably stopped now. But given that support has been so crap, and the design so bad in relation to 8882 fault correcting, I'm reluctant to do this. My problem is that there are a few things about the SV4 that I've really liked. I like the PVR function, when it worked. I like the fact that it has two scarts in the back as I use an AV sender. The USB updating is convenient, but I'm not too fussed about using a cable and I'm fairly computer literate. I like the fact that I can also record to a USB hard drive. So, given that these are the things I've liked, what box should I buy next? Doesn't have to be the cheapest as long as it's good value.
I remember putting 1.09 on it when it first came out and taking it off again immediately because the epg was even more dysfunctional than 1.07. I also have an early box (almost a year old) so 1.09 is likely to brick it. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.
I have Pansat 9200HD and since 3 months there are no south asian channels because of Nagra3; any idea of getting it back? Thanks in advamce..
I have an Itgate220 arriving tomorrow. I'm looking forward to shoving the starview under the bed and get a system that works properly and has some kind of support behind it. I'm in England so I'll have no problems.
If you are going the way of the linux box in th UK I would have went for a HD Linux box, since the HD chans over there work and are growing
lol. class! If it has a scart you could have used it, and if you changed yer tv in future you at least had a HD box, but anyways happy viewing
