I was wondering which Thermal Compound I should get for my CPU Heatsink. Usually, I used Arctic Silver, but I want to give something else a try. I was thinking to try something by Shin Etsu. I can find two different compounds. The G751 ($6 for 1gr) & X23-7783D ($8.50 for 1gr). Does anyone have any experience with either of these? Which of the two performs better? Finally, is there anything special to do in terms of applying this? What about the thermal grease that comes with the Tuniq Tower? Is that a good thermal compound? Should I just give that one a try?
I don't know about Tuniq, but the stuff that came with the Ultra-120 was fine. I'm currently using OCZ Freeze, mostly because, like you, I fancied a change, but also because at some point I would like to reseat my chipset heatsink - since my board links the chipset and VRM sinks together I need to reseat the Voltage regs too, which means using something non-conductive.
