I'm putting a new system together and not sure which of the two cards is better than the other. XFX nVidia GeForce FX 5200/256MB DDR/8x AGP -$90 or Radeon 9600XT/256MB DDR/8x AGP -$120
I don't have a agp card(yet)but, I have had both brands and I like Ati better. It never gave ne any problems
I used to have a PCI version of the fx5200 and i cant really say its all that great, yes you would get more out of it cos it's AGP but i would say go for the 9600XT
men gforce fx 5200 is a lousy card i think ati 9600xt is a very good video card can play doom 3,farcry like notting no sweat. remember ati has several configurations for the same model so go thru several model and try to get one with higher memory clock(640-900mhz). and make sure it comes with big heat sink and fan and memory stick heat spreaders. hope i help
Didn't want to start a new thread. I don't play any games at all, I watch the occasional movie, and do moderate video editing. Should I get the SAPPHIRE Radeon X300: http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814102416 and add a 512 mb stick of ddr2 RAM to get a total of 1 gb or get the eVGA Geforce 6600GT: http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814130214 and add no RAM? Any suggestions appreciated.
thanks! this is really random, but... i was wondering if thermal paste would come with a retail processor.
usually there is a thermal pad on the heatsink not the cpu if bought as a package. if getting a new cpu heatsink & fan, might come with thermal paste.
I use that same exact 5200 geforce card,, how can you say it is lousy, it is perfect,, sure it isnt the best of the best, but this card can handle all the games fine, and its for a great price to, I would say go for the GeForce,
liez4love is good card in its time sure it was but now i far behind my needs but it is a good card can play doom 3 low-mid settings, splinter cell not farcry but is good!
I had a BFG tweaked 5200 thought it was real good then i got a 6600GT and realized how pants the 5200 really is, the 9600 would be the better option
