I'm familiar with a few programs that will convert .avi and .mpg to 3GP formats for cellphones, but does anyone know what software programs might be considered among some of the more popular/best programs to use for the best video reproduction quality?

    THANKS

    Hi,Guy.
ImTOO DVD Ripper Platinum v5.0 may be OK.
An alternative method is to convert the file online, see this website: http://www.media-convert.com/
    and follow these steps.
1 Browse your local disk and select the FLV video to be converted.
2 Select the expected output format and click the button “Convert”
3 When the conversion is done, download the output video to your computer
But this will take you a long time to handle it,you can do other things while the website is converting file.
Beside, this site http://www.video-to-flash.com/video_to_flash/ provides solutions for converting video.

The only one I used to convert my movies for cell phones is dvdfab platinum.

I have been forced to make patched versions of ffmpeg to make some of the really odd .asf formats used by chipods and chiphones. One has a need for the audio to be stream1 and video stream2 within the M4S2 codec in an asf wrapper.. that's hard to do, though you would think it was simple it's backwards to anything I have ever seen anywhere else.. Not all mp4 players are equal it seems.
