I just got a new DS and tried my old DS Lite's Acekard 2 on it. When I turn it on nothing, shows up. 1)Does that mean i need to upgrade the Acekard to make it work for new DS Lites? Also I am looking to buy another flash card. Acekard 2 worked great for me in the past but I did had problems getting only a few games to work. 2)Would buying an M3 Real or CycloDS be better?
No - if the DS does not see it at all - it needs the paper shim trick. If the card works then it will work on all DS's. Newer DS's seem to suffer more from this problem. For a second card both the choices you have put are excellent, down to personal choice.
Unless you mean it was a new dsi you bought...? The old cards are not compatible with the new machine.
How do I do the paper shim trick? Will I still need to use the paper shim trick if I purchase the CycloDS? Thanks.
Paper shim trick - put a piece of folded paper or thin card between the back of the flashcart and the back of the DS slot - this pushes the contacts of the flashcart and the contacts of the DS together. This should let it be seen by the DS
I only know the EZFlashVi card (not the V, but the Vi) that works on all DSi/DS Lite/DS consoles. The rest seem to have compatibility issues that I've found so far.
When i say new i just mean a DS Lite. Not the DSi. I'll see if i can get the paper trim trick to work. Does the cycloDS also needs to use the paper trim method?
I have found it depends on your DS - some dont need it and some do, the same card will work in some Ds's and not in others
