Why cant I burn slower than 4x????

Hi,

I recently got a Sony DVD RW DW-D26A burner. When I try to burn anything I get the following problems:

for DVD+R discs... the lowest speed I can burn at is 6x
for DVD-R discs... the lowest speed I can burn at is 4x

I am concerned because I want to burn discs at 1x or 2x for backing up my XBOX games, but it will only let at 4x and some games are not working at this speeed. I wanna burn at 2x for these games but cant.

oh yea, i use both Nero and DVD Decrypter, both give me the same problem

 

sometimes the software restricts at what speeds you can burn, nero for me allows 4x for slowest.

also, the media also restricts burning speeds, my sony dvd-r is 1x-8x and the verbatim dvd+r dl is 2.4x only.
