Ive had my computer for a couple of years and when I bought it it was fast and now it seems a lot slower. Mostly the Internet is really slow and sometimes starting up programs take longer. Is there a simple way of speeding things up? also how do I get rid of yahoo messenger. I got a new modem and they must have made me install. In fact there are lots of programs that start up automatically that i don't use.
if you havent reinstalled windows in a while you probably have a bunch of junk programs virus etc. first go to control panel then add/remove programs and get rid of everything you dont need. then when that is done go to start then run and type msconfig and go to the start up programs tab. from there you can stop alot of programs from starting when windows starts. uncheck all that doesnt need to start, like itunes helper and other stupid programs. after that restart and when windows starts it will give you a message just click do not show again. you can also defrag your hard drvie. right click on your c drive then properties tools defrag. after that is done you might consider upgrading your ram. how much do you have right now? if you dont have much then it will be a good idea to upgrade.
once you have remove programs from startup, mike lins startup monitor is a neat little program to have it tells you when a program is trying to install itself at startup and allows you to cancel it can be found at http://www.mlin.net/StartupMonitor.shtml
It's either you have errors which can be fixed qith Glarysoft Registry Repair(Freeware) or you just have too much junk on the computer(no offence I would format the computer as I had the same problem. But save everything first then do it.Instructions can be found from searching in google. Hope this helps!
