I downloaded Auto Installer Delux for the Xbox, I followed the PDF file to a T but when I looked at the bottom of the disk to see if data was on it, (indicated by a dark ring) there wasn't any? I am burning the modified ISO using IMGburn on a DVD-RW disk. And on top of that the disk does not run once inserted into my modded Xbox which is running UnleashX, which further shows there is no data on the disk? Why is it doing that?
Old type xboxes are picky about what disks they will read. I had Auto Installer Deluxe on a DVD-RW or DVD+RW (can't remember which now as i replaced it ages ago with a DVD-R as the rewritable disc wouldn't work on all my xboxes). To avoid wasting time i now only use DVD-R and DVD+R on my xboxes (and CD-R of course)
Is there a piece of so ftware or an app I can run on my xbox to tell me what kind of a drive I have or would that be listed in UnleashX's system settings? Then I can just review AID's website and look for the compatable disk for my drive?
You can check if the disc has anything on it in imgburn, for instance here's my Auto Install Deluxe disc (version 4.40 on a DVD-R) ~ Obviously the PC can't read the actual contents of the disc ie you can't look at it in Windows Explorer as the disc is in xbox format. Put it this way, i have quite a few xboxes and whilst i can't remember what models they are or what drives are in most of them, they ALL read DVD-R and DVD+R. The only discs i have with Auto Installer Deluxe both happen to be on -R but nearly all my burnt games are on +R with a few on -R. ..so if i were you i'd just burn AID onto a -R disc, you never know when you might need to use it again anyways..
No idea, i have loads of xboxes, i did check a few of the DVD drives when i opened the ones that i was swapping in larger hard drives for, but i didn't bother keeping a note of the different drives. But you're definitely a better person than me to comment on discs and drives, am glad you showed up. Other than what i'd already posted, all i can offer is this ~ xbox drive types but you know all that stuff anyways , just thought it might help the OP.
yup.. it will.. along with some real insider know how.. 8x dvd-r G05 dye (so ritek/ridata/arita.. those kind of things) will all guaranteed work superbly. cd-r .. gigatain (hellishly hard to find.. code as optodisk something.. even philips drives will sometimes read them) drives.. sammy 605b .. will read cd-r dvd-r dvd+r (4 and 8x tho forget 16x.. they seem too fast for the drives) dvd+rw but oddly not cd-rw philips monster (ditch wherever possible.. unreliable and crap) dvd-r and cd-rw only (unless you can find gigatain as mentioned above and burn them with a real cd burner) tommy.. dvd-r .. never seen a + disk work, lots of clunking and then having to turn the whole box off to get the disk out.. can't be good for the laser ..there is a trick to get them to read a cd-r .. don't finalise it hitachi .. only ever seen one.. import from NZ which had got itself a power connector problem... wasn't modded and owner didn't want it modding.. my info shows they were pacific rim only.
