I am using the instructions for "DVD to CD with SmartRipper, DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc" from this site, and they seem to work quite well. I burn the mpeg file to cd using nero. The cd works well on my computer, but when I play it on either of my DVD players, the last part of the cd breaks up badly. I record at 8x. I have found that if I copy that cd onto a clean cd using Roxio DiscCopy it turns out clean and runs well on my DVD players. What is going on?
Were the 2 discs the same sized and brand? Even if yes, the quality can be different. Is it a regular problem?
Well the end of the CD is were most of the errors will be and depending on the Burning speed and the Burning Program and brand of CD-R would determine how many errors you would get...
Thanks Folks. The cds are the same make and from the same spindle. Why would they run fine on my computer and not on my dvd players and then after I copy from the original that did not play well the copy does play well? Is this something that just happens, or is there some adjustment that should be made? The original is made at 8x and the copy is made at "maximum speed" on Roxio which turns out to vary from 4x to 32x. I make movies on Pinnacle 8 and it burns the movies to cd at 8x that play just fine on my cdvd players, as well as on the computer. I am only trying to see if there is something I can do to keep from having to make a copy of the original. Next one I will make on Nero at 4x and see if that helps.
For me Nero with the slowest speed works. DVD players usally like slower speed. eg. Toshiba. The slower U burn, the deeper mark on the CD.
I find that I cannot burn slower than 8x on either Nero or Roxio. I find VCDEasy far too complicated for my simple mind. I just backed up a DVD to VCD and both disks were faulty, but came out fine after I re-burned then on Roxio.
