WICH IS BETTER PENTIUM D 805 OR DUAL CORE E2160

    hi i have pc runnig with:

    Pentium D 805
    -2.66 ghz
    -FSB 533 mhz
    -L2 cache 1 mb
    -core smithfield 90nm

    i receive a free dual core e2160:

    -1.80 ghz
    -FSB 800 mhz
    -L2 cache 1mb
    -core allendale 65 nm

    my qst is should i pull off the 805 and use the e2160????

    ps: im a gamer and always converting video formats (avi,divx to dvd,and dvdriping).

    OK, this doesn't really answer your question, but I assume that you have already checked to see that your motherboard is compatible with the new CPU?

    There is a possibility that it is not.

    You will also need to replace memory if you want it to run at full speed.

    Agreed, you'll need to check it's compatible, but the E2160 is much faster than the D805.

    i check it it is compatible with my mobo and memory so it should be no problem....

    Then go for it, it's certainly an upgrade, and it will save you a lot of energy. Plus it's one of the easiest CPUs to overclock in the world.

    thx guys ill do it and im getting new memory 800 mhz to do some overclocking..
