Has anyone tried the Widescreen option with Copy Xpress with a DVD which is not in widescreen format? If so what was the result?

I'm not entirely sure if you'll get an answer. I can't think of any reason why anybody would want to convert a movie from standard to widescreen.

Now don't get me wrong; given the option I buy all my movies in Widescreen Mode. (Back to the Future is a good example; it was offered in both formats) Now the reason why widesreen is "better" is the movie is originally filmed in widescreen mode. When the movie is converted to 4X3 for VHS or TV, they either chop off the sides, or stretch the image vertically to make the image fit.

If you were to convert a 4X3 movie to widescreen, you won't get any additional footage back. That's like taking an audio tape and recording it to CD; you won't gain any additional sound quality.

All I can see happening is the image being stretched horizontally. That just can't be good.

Sounds logical but why do they give you the option then? - a bit silly I think.

That option is meant for the disks that has both versions on it then you can decide which one you want instead of it choosing for you like dvdxcopy does at present time.
