My router is going slow, at best 11mps. When im at my workplace my laptop gets 54mps(consitently). I went into my router's settings but i did not find any settings that can change the wireless more from 802.11b to 802.11g. I bought the router for about 29.99 and i saw 802.11g routers for 20 on ebay do i thought that my router would be as fast as those. any suggestions?
depends on the signal strength, the closer you are to your wireless router the better the mbs. I have my wireless router in my backroom and a wireless PC in the living room, I was dropping out constantly until I got a range expander and now I never drop out, Im always at 54mps. Some spots in your house have dead spots so there is nothing you can do unless you move your wireless router to a central location (or buy a range expander). Companys pay big bucks for wireless so they never loose connection.
location isn't the problem because I use my laptop in the same room the router is set up. Im about est. 30ft away from my router(no walls). Any other suggestions about router configuration would be very helpful.
