I've decided to create a tutorial on helping those who need help, are lost, or have no clue on how to properly downgrade your Wii, along with a more in depth instructions for the homebrew application Starfall. You can downgrade alone but i would strongly recommend to install Starfall. Please note that Starfall only works, as of now, System menu 3.2. Note: This guide is made with the intention that you've already installed the Homebrew Channel. Requires internet connection on some parts to download the necessary files. Any questions, comments or complaints feel free to pm me or post. If this tutorial has helped you the least you can do is give thanks. *Disclaimer*(Please read) I WILL IN NO WAY TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY WII CONSOLES THAT BECOME BRICKED AS THE RESULT OF THIS TUTORIAL. IF INSTRUCTIONS ARE FOLLOWED CORRECTLY THERE SHOULD BE ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM IN MAKING IT WORK, HOWEVER I CANNOT GUARANTEE IT. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! Credits: -Team Twiizers (for the start of homebrew) -Waninkoko (what would we do without you?) -Emperor of Canada (for inspiration of your guide) -Crediar (for Starfall) -Caitsith2, Void, Tona and Davi92 for firmware 4.0 "No cIOS fix" -Comex for alternate exploit -And to all other devs whom i didn't mention for this tutorial to work Some files for this tutorial can be found at the bottom of the thread and at mediafire. The apps are numbered in order for convenience. *UPDATED 5/18/09* -As of now NEW right off the box Wii's with system menu 4.0 will work with the downgrade thanks to Comex exploit of "Bannerbomb" In order to make it work just follow the steps below under title Pre-Installation. After that continue with "Installation". - Have 4.0 (via Nintendo) with hbc installed, but no cIOS? You can still downgrade with a few extra steps shown below (source): (Note: Firmwares 4.0 (via Waninkoko) and 3.4 & below please skip the following steps and follow below the header "Installation") --------------Pre-Installation (4.0 Virgin/ 4.0 with hbc)---------------- -First, backup your sd Card on your pc delete everything on your sd card or it will never work. -Second, put the contents in the root of your SD Card. 1. Run CMDVDX34 using HBC (this patches IOS35 to a lower number) 2. Install IOS35.wad using Wad Manager (any version) (if it fails, it's already installed, don't worry continue) 3. Then run Wad Manager (IOS35 Version) and install the CIOS7.wad Now you can run cIOS36 (latest revision) [not included in the package]. You may then continue with the guide below, if you wish to downgrade. If you get a piracy message just run "shared2clean". Of course this wouldn't occur if you don't have pirated VC games in your SD Right? ~~~~~~~~~~INSTALLATION (4.0 w/t cios/3.4/3.3)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ STEP 1- Load Wad Manager from the Homebrew Channel (hbc) and install "IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad" STEP 2- Load Custom Wad Manager from hbc and install "cios-fix.wad" STEP 3- Load IOS Downgrader from hbc. Follow all directions until it tells you that it has been completed. STEP 4- Load Firmware Downgrader from hbc -L@@K---> MAKE SURE YOU PICK YOUR CORRECT REGION <---L@@K -For example: 3.2U= USA/Canada; 3.2E= Europe; 3.2J=Japan -OPTIONAL: You may choose another system firmware other than 3.2 if you want. My intention is to help guide you to downgrade to 3.2. Remember that System Menu 3.2 is considered the 'ideal' firmware for homebrew (if not all) to work properly. STEP 5- (You may skip this if you wish) At this point you should be on System Menu 3.2 (or other firmware). You may check your Wii settings to see for yourself. ~~Again if your NOT in System Menu 3.2 you will not be able to do Step 6~~ STEP 6- Load Starfall from hbc. After reading the discalimer you will be instructed to press B+1 instead of B+2. Press B+1 to continue on to the next screen. -As of version 0.5 Starfall has 8 options/patches to the Wii in which you can install. The last 3 are the most important ones. Some people just install everything which is fine. -STARFALL comes with these options (the ones in red are the important ones): ~Replace healthwarning with back menu ~Region free GC games with video mode patch ~Region free Wii Games ~Region free channels ~No Mainmenu BGM (Background Music) ~Start rescue-menu when Y is held on 1st GC controller (Usefull for recovering bricks) ~Remove rescue-menu diagnostic disc check ~Skip disc update check tuossa jotain mistä pitäisi 0lla apuja. linkkejä ei vissiiin saa laitta... ku toi IOS tiedosto on vissiin ^lsiton^.
