I am new to the dvd burning thing and I bought a I/O magic External DVD burner w/lightscribe and I use DVD decrypter then DVD shrink asnd Nero that came with the burner and I am only able to burn on RW DVD's even though it supposively supports all formats. What am I missing here???? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi stockgt Could be the discs you are using aren't compatible w/ the drive - not all are for all drives. So what media are you using? Goods one to use are Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden and made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell. What's the model number of the burner? If there's a firmware update available that might help. Are you getting a burn error or does the drive just not recognize the discs?
I can burn on maxell dvd rw. I tried memorex dvd+r and HP dvd+r dl and they will not work. I get a box that says burn failed. My niece tried and got an error that said something about compilated are full or something like that. Its a I/O magic model IDVD16DLSE

I can't find much on this drive for firmware support from io magic. It probably needs a update to handle some the 16x media like the ones you are using. Looks like this is an oem BenQ so you could try crossflashing to BenQ firmware. Update package 1 of Nero to the latest version of 6 - 6.6.1.15 Uninstall InCD also & run the clean tool- it's been known to cause conflicts cause conflicts.
