Will play on Media Center, but cannot fast forward,

    I have several divx files that will play but I cannot skip forward or fast forward. Same with rewinding.

    Is this a codec issue or what?

    If the audio and video are just about acceptable, I doubt it's a codec issue. To be certain you can drop a sample file in GSpot to determine if the necessary codecs are installed in your machine. Also, please be advised that some video files streamed and shared over the internet are meant to be viewed at one sitting. Hence, they can't be fast-forwarded or re-winded.
