That'll only work if you're using a router. If you're trying to do a direct pc to xbox connection, it won't work.

Radio Shack has the crossover cables.. It will say "cross over cable" on the package..

They carry two lenghts there on the shelf..

ten feet for $9.99 is what I got.. works perfectly

    my word---

    are people still buying these???

you're getting ripped off buy paying through the nose for an "xbox link cable" or other marketing crap!

a normal rj45 utp lead (std network cable) is much cheaper and can be easily converted into a crossover....

    its simple:

    1. cut the length of cable in two
    2. seperate the internal wires and strip the ends off the following (both ends):
    ORANGE, ORANGE-WHITE, GREEN, GREEN-WHITE
    3. now join ORANGE to GREEN (both sets)
    then join ORANGE-WHITE to GREEN-WHITE
    4. use insulating/electrical tape to cover all the bare wire and seal the cable back up in the same way

    VOILA!

One crossover cable - make it as long as you want!!

Note that the other wires, blue, etc are not needed - just make sure they're sealed off - a bit of tape will do this.
