Recently I have tried to used my cd burner - both software Prassi Primo DVD and Nero 6 and im running on Windows ME. I have looked at other forums and they ahve all had the same problem it says
    "Win_ASPI file '?.?' missing"

I have tried downloading the file and following the installation instructions but then it sayed that the file was and older version and is corrupt, does anyone know who i can reset the layers to normal and get my burner working again - Im a 3rd year Uni student doing media and badly need this working asap any info would be great - and links to software would be ace!! thanks!

    Hi,

    I'd recommend running ForceASPI 1.7. Here's a link:

    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/frcaspi.cfm

Once you extract there should be a batch file called KILLASPI, run that then reboot.

Now in the same folder there should be another batch file called INSTASPI, run that then reboot.

Once this is done, you can run ASPICHK to confirm the install. All four versions should be 4.60. Here's a link for ASPICHK:

I was so grateful to find this link in google yesterday as I was suffering the same problem. Everything in Nephilim's answer worked, and now my cd writer is working again. Thank you to Nephilim for taking the time to provide the solution!!
