need help fixing the windows xp to read my cd-dvd latop drive. have tried two new drives, both are showing up, but when cd placed in, nothing shows up. something is up with the windows xp reading the drive... i have done the whole uninstal, take out, restart, restart bios, nothing is working. it has to be something with windows xp.
No, there are no error codes, or exlamation marks under device manager or anything to indicate a problem... under "my computer" when no cd is in teh drive, it is listed as dvd-ram drive : when a cd is put it, it changes to read : cd drive
