    Hi Guys,

I've just recently built a brand new computer consisting of a Q6600 go processor, a gigabyte X38-DQ6 motherboard, 4 gig of corshair xms2 ram, radeon HD2600 pro 512mb vid card, 2 500 gig western digital hard drives,
    running on standard cooling.

I try installing win xp pro and it gets right to the end of the install process, tells me that its ready to start up windows and then i get the blue death screen. I haven't seen the death screen since my win 95 days and found it almost comical that i got it now.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers
    Paul

The BSOD is a little troublesome but it is generally caused by defective memory or a HDD going bad. There are other causes as well. The first thing that I would do is make sure that the memory is seated firmly and make sure that all fans are operating and not causing any heat issue. If you are putting on XP for the first time, make sure to format the drive as well.

Drivers, hardware, and software could also be an issue. Another issue that I've seen is that the OS disk was damaged and files were not writing correctly during installation. Here is a link to help you read the BSOD and determine what the trouble is so that you can correct the problem.

    Good luck!!
