Hi everyone, I have a backup copy of HALO PC, it works fine on my PC with Win Xp Pro, but when I try to play it one my laptop (Win XP Home Edition, it keeps asking me to re-insert the HALO disk. What is wrong?? Thanks in advance,
Its called copy protection. Halo wont play without having the CD inserted. It has nothing to do with windows. Either your desktop setup has a crack installed, Or a virtual image mounted to run the game. So your options would be the same for the laptop. Cheers!
Thank you for your repply. The Halo disk is a copy of my original, made with Alcohol 120%. It runs perfectly on the Win Xp Pro Sp1 (cracked..sorry) in my home computer. The same disk (not a mounted image) will install but won´t play on my Laptop, which has an OEM Win Xp SP1 Home Edition. Update... Last night I formatted (yes, I loove Halo!) my laptop and installed the VERY SAME copy of Win XP Pro Sp1 I have at home...and nothing changed (well, except for the saggy eyes this morning!)...the disk will install but won´t play. I know Halo´s copy protection is Safedisk 2.7...but is there another option I should check on Alcohol prior to burning? I just don´t know what to do. I don´t want to scratch my original disk, it´s priceless to me. Thanks again,
u have two options... since this is your originally owned copy of halo then u can either patch the game's exe and create a shortcut on your desktop or you can download a game image and mount it (usually around 20 megs) . U can download both the patch and game image at Http:/GameCopyWorld.com/ good luck! by the way, u can always install the original cd again, that is if u ever had the original copy of the game.........just joking with ya lol
