I've got some AVI videos that I want to burn and watch on my TV. I decided to use WinAVI because I've read alot of good things about it. After I convert the files and burn them to DVD, when I try to watch them on my DVD player in my room, about 1/10th of the movie is cut off on the bottom. Now this wouldn't bother me that much if the movies that I have didn't have subtitles. The subtitles get cut off and I can't tell what's going on. Is there any way to fix this or is there some other, better converter that you could recommend me?
I had the exact same problem but I figured it out. Before you try to convert, there should be this button called "Advanced." Click it. Under "Aspect Ratio," it has a dot under "AUTO," right? Change it to either 4:3 or 16:9, depending on the video. And then click the "Encode" tab at the top. Look under "Source Aspect Ratio" and change it to either 4:3 or 16:9, depending on the video. (For me, I used 4:3 but yours might be the same or different.) Then click "OK" at the bottom and convert it. It should work.
